Typically, prediction market odds reflect a different set of information and incentives than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while prediction markets aim to represent the true probability of an event occurring as assessed by traders. It’s common to see differences in implied probabilities, especially as new information emerges or public sentiment shifts. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on expert analysis, this market allows for a more dynamic and collective assessment of the likely outcome of the Villena doubles match.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous exchange where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting growing confidence. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price is determined solely by supply and demand; there are no external factors influencing the pricing mechanism on Polymarket. This dynamic pricing allows the market to quickly incorporate new information and adjust probabilities accordingly.
