Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks incorporate a ‘vig’ or commission into their odds, ensuring profit regardless of the outcome, while Polymarket allows traders to directly express their beliefs about the probability of each result. This can lead to discrepancies, particularly when there’s strong public sentiment or information asymmetry. It’s common to see this market’s probabilities diverge from initial sportsbook lines, especially as the event approaches and more information surfaces.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and express their views, the price adjusts to reflect the collective wisdom of the crowd. The current price reflects the aggregated expectations of all participants on Polymarket regarding the Huertas Del Pino match.
