Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of forecasters, potentially differing from those set by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action on both sides, while this market is driven purely by individuals’ beliefs about the outcome. If a significant discrepancy exists between prediction market probabilities and sportsbook odds, it might indicate that the market perceives information differently or has access to unique insights. However, it’s important to remember that both represent probabilities, and neither guarantees the actual result.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome.
