Sportsbooks may initially emphasize publicly available information and expert opinions, while this market incorporates a broader range of perspectives as traders buy and sell shares. Analyzing these differences can offer valuable insights into the perceived probabilities of various outcomes.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders can buy and sell shares representing their belief about the first-half winner. The price of a share ranges from 0 to 100, representing the probability of that outcome occurring. A price of 50 indicates a 50% perceived chance of that team winning. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares of a particular team, the price increases, and vice versa, reflecting the collective prediction of the market participants. This dynamic pricing mechanism allows for real-time adjustments based on new information and changing opinions.
