Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and incorporate a profit margin, while this market is driven by traders who are incentivized to accurately predict the outcome. If a significant discrepancy exists, arbitrage opportunities may arise, where traders can profit by simultaneously betting on both the prediction market and a sportsbook. However, it’s important to remember that both offer different perspectives on the likelihood of an event, and neither is guaranteed to be correct.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in whether Valencia or Athletic Club will score first in the second half. The price of these shares fluctuates based on supply and demand, effectively creating a real-time probability assessment. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders believe Valencia will score first, the price of shares representing that outcome will increase, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing reflects the collective intelligence of the market participants.

This market resolves around Oct 17, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the market will determine which team scores the first goal in the second half of the Valencia CF versus Athletic Club match. The result will be based on official match data and verified against credible public sources. The platform will then finalize the settlement of all outstanding shares based on the confirmed outcome of the match.

Several factors could influence the price action of this market before resolution. Any news regarding team injuries, particularly to key attacking players for either Valencia or Athletic Club, could significantly shift the odds. Changes in team form, such as a recent string of wins or losses, could also impact trader sentiment. Even tactical announcements, like a change in formation or starting lineup, could cause movement. Finally, pre-match analysis from reputable sports analysts and any late-breaking news related to the match could all contribute to shifts in this market.
