Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from those offered by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set initial lines to balance their risk, while this market’s odds are driven by individuals willing to put their money behind their beliefs. Often, prediction markets are more accurate than traditional polls or expert opinions, as they incentivize participants to be well-informed. However, sportsbook odds can sometimes offer value, particularly if they diverge significantly from the prediction market price.
On Predict, this market is priced through a continuous process where traders buy and sell contracts representing different outcomes. The price of each contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Predict, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more people trade, the price adjusts to reflect new information and changing sentiment. The current price is determined by the forces of supply and demand, with buyers driving the price up and sellers driving it down. This dynamic pricing mechanism aims to provide a real-time assessment of the game's likely outcome.
