This market tracks how many points are scored in the final quarter of a college football game between two teams. Bettors predict whether the combined score will exceed certain thresholds, offering different levels of difficulty for each threshold.
All markets resolve based solely on points scored during the fourth quarter of the USC vs Penn St. college football game scheduled for October 10, 2026, with overtime points excluded. Each market has a specific threshold: if the combined fourth-quarter points exceed the stated threshold (2.5, 5.5, 7.5, 10.5, 12.5, 13.5, 16.5, 19.5, 20.5, 23.5, or 27.5 points), that market resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, all markets remain open and resolve based on the final result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, all markets resolve to a fair price, ensuring equitable treatment for all participants regardless of the threshold selected.
Often, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market reflects the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to be accurate. This can lead to differences in probabilities, particularly as new information emerges. Historically, prediction markets have demonstrated a strong ability to forecast event outcomes, sometimes outperforming traditional methods. It’s worth comparing the implied probabilities to those offered by sportsbooks to see where the discrepancies lie.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts. The price of a contract represents the probability of the event occurring. For example, a contract priced at 60 means it costs 60 dollars to buy a contract that pays out 100 dollars if the outcome matches the contract’s prediction. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders’ actions – their willingness to buy or sell at certain prices – directly influence the market price, creating a dynamic and real-time assessment of the likely outcome of the 4th quarter total.
This market resolves around Oct 11, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the final score of the 4th quarter of the USC vs Penn State game is verifiable from credible public reporting. The total points scored in the 4th quarter will be the determining factor. The resolution will be based on official game statistics, ensuring a transparent and accurate outcome. Traders holding contracts aligned with the actual 4th quarter total will receive a payout of 100 dollars per contract, while those holding contracts predicting a different total will not.
Several factors could influence the price of this market before the game concludes. Any news regarding key player injuries for either USC or Penn State would likely cause movement, as would significant changes in weather forecasts. Live game developments, such as a dominant performance by one team in the first three quarters, could also shift expectations and impact trading activity. Even public sentiment, reflected in social media or expert analysis, can contribute to price fluctuations as traders react to new information and adjust their predictions.
