This set of markets focuses on predicting the point differential in the second quarter of a college football game between USC and Penn State. Each market corresponds to a specific margin of victory for either team during that quarter, allowing participants to bet on how decisively one team might lead at that specific point in the game.
The markets resolve based on the point differential exclusively during the second quarter of the USC vs Penn State college football game scheduled for October 10, 2026. Each market corresponds to a specific margin of victory for either team within that quarter. If Penn State wins by more than the specified margin (ranging from 2.5 to 10.5 points), the respective 'Penn St. wins by over X points' market resolves to Yes. Conversely, if USC wins by more than the specified margin (ranging from 2.5 to 10.5 points), the corresponding 'USC wins by over X points' market resolves to Yes. If neither team meets the required margin, all markets resolve to No. Postponements are accounted for: if the game starts within 48 hours of the original time, markets remain open and resolve based on the official result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, markets resolve to a fair price. Only points scored during the second quarter count toward these resolutions.
Generally, prediction markets like this one tend to reflect information and insights that may differ from traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbook odds are often set by analysts with a specific goal of profitability for the bookmaker, while this market represents the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially early on, as prediction markets can incorporate unique data points and react quickly to news or changing sentiment surrounding the game. However, as the event approaches, the odds on Kalshi often converge with those found at major sportsbooks.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different point spreads. The price of each contract reflects the probability of that spread occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders are incentivized to provide accurate predictions, as they profit if their predictions are correct and lose if they are wrong. This dynamic process creates a real-time assessment of the likely outcome of the second quarter spread in the USC vs Penn State game, based on the aggregated knowledge of those trading the market.
This market resolves around Oct 11, 2026, following the conclusion of the second quarter of the USC vs Penn State football game. The outcome will be determined by the actual point spread achieved during that period, verified against credible public reporting of the game’s results. The final spread will be compared to the contracts traded on Kalshi to determine which contracts settle at 100, and which settle at 0, resulting in payouts to winning traders. The market’s resolution is based on the official game statistics.
Several factors could influence the price of contracts in this market. Any news regarding injuries to key players on either the USC or Penn State teams would likely have a significant impact. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they suggest adverse conditions, could also shift predictions. Additionally, late-breaking news about team strategy or coaching decisions could move the market. Public sentiment, reflected in polls or expert analyses, can also play a role, though the market often incorporates information beyond what’s readily available in public discourse.
