Frequently asked questions

Currently, prediction market odds often reflect a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. While sportsbooks set lines based on statistical models and public betting patterns, this market allows traders to incorporate a wider range of information and subjective assessments. Discrepancies can arise due to differing opinions on team form, potential injuries, or even intangible factors like team morale. It's common to see prediction markets react more quickly to new information than sportsbooks, potentially offering an edge to informed traders.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting growing confidence. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price is determined entirely by supply and demand among traders on Polymarket, and is not influenced by external factors or a central authority.
