Frequently asked questions

Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, aiming to profit regardless of the outcome. This market, however, is driven purely by the collective predictions of traders. If a significant number of people believe a particular outcome is likely, the odds will shift accordingly, potentially offering a more accurate representation of the true probability. It's common to see discrepancies, especially in events where public perception differs from expert analysis.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome – in this case, which team will score first. The price of each share directly reflects the probability of that outcome, as determined by supply and demand. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares in a particular team, the price increases, indicating a higher perceived chance of them scoring first. Conversely, selling pressure lowers the price. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the collective wisdom of the crowd.

This market resolves around Oct 4, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on which team scores the first goal in the match between Turks and Caicos Islands and the British Virgin Islands. The official result will be determined by the governing body of the competition and will be publicly available. The platform will then verify the outcome and settle the market accordingly, distributing funds to those who correctly predicted the first team to score.

Several factors could influence the trading activity in this market. Any news regarding team injuries, changes in coaching staff, or unexpected player availability could cause shifts in the odds. Additionally, pre-match analysis from sports commentators or analysts, even if not directly impacting the game, can sway public opinion and therefore trading behavior. Finally, large volume trades from individual participants could also create short-term price fluctuations. Monitoring these signals will be key to understanding how this market evolves leading up to Oct 4, 2026.
