This set of markets tracks how many points each team will score in an upcoming college football game. Participants can speculate on whether a team will exceed various scoring thresholds, allowing for detailed analysis of expected performance.
All markets resolve based on the official final point total scored by James Madison or Troy in their college football game scheduled for October 29, 2026. For any market, if the specified team scores more than the stated threshold (e.g., James Madison over 16.5 points), the market resolves to 'Yes'; otherwise, it resolves to 'No'. If the game is postponed but commences within 48 hours of the original start time, the result is determined by the final score of the rescheduled game. If the game does not start within 48 hours of its scheduled time, all markets resolve to a fair price, ensuring equitable treatment for all participants under unforeseen circumstances.
Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, and can differ from those offered by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set their lines based on internal models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market allows anyone to express their view. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook’s line is inaccurate, the price in this market will move accordingly. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially before a lot of information becomes public, or when there’s strong public bias towards one outcome. Examining both can provide a more comprehensive view.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous double auction. Traders buy and sell contracts representing their predictions about the Troy vs James Madison team totals. The price of a contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price adjusts to reflect the collective intelligence of the crowd. The closer we get to the event, the more the price will likely move as confidence in specific outcomes increases or decreases.
This market resolves around Oct 30, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final team totals for both Troy and James Madison will be sourced from official game statistics. The market will determine which side, if any, correctly predicted the final team totals. Traders who held contracts corresponding to the correct outcome will receive a payout, while those who bet against it will forfeit their stake. The resolution process is designed to be objective and transparent.
Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding injuries to key players on either Troy or James Madison would likely cause significant movement. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they suggest conditions favoring one team’s style of play, could also impact trading activity. Furthermore, any updates on team strategies or coaching decisions could shift market sentiment. Public perception, as reflected in polls or expert analyses, can also play a role, though this market represents independent predictions.
