Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action, while this market allows traders to express their own probabilities. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook has mispriced a team's chances, the odds here will adjust accordingly. It’s common to see discrepancies, particularly as new information emerges or public opinion shifts, offering potential value for informed traders.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders who buy shares in a particular outcome, the higher its price will climb, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing reflects the collective intelligence of the market participants and their assessment of the likely result of the TPS Turku versus Kiekko-Espoo game.
