Frequently asked questions

Frequently, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. This is because prediction markets aggregate the wisdom of the crowd, allowing traders to weigh various factors—like team form, injuries, and tactical approaches—to arrive at their own probabilities. While sportsbooks set odds based on models and profit margins, this market reflects the collective belief of individuals willing to put their capital behind their predictions. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information access, biases, or simply varying interpretations of the same data, offering potentially valuable insights for informed decision-making.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in whether Tottenham Hotspur FC or Coventry City FC will score first in the second half. As more shares are bought for a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting a higher implied probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, allowing traders to express their views and profit if their predictions prove accurate. The market's price dynamically adjusts based on supply and demand, providing a constantly updated assessment of the likely event outcome.

This market resolves around Oct 19, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the outcome will be determined by which team—Tottenham Hotspur FC or Coventry City FC—scores the first goal in the second half of the match. The resolution will be based on official match data and verified against credible public sources. The platform will then determine the winning outcome and distribute payouts to those who correctly predicted which team would score first in the second half.

Several factors could significantly influence this market before it resolves. Any news regarding key player injuries or suspensions for either Tottenham Hotspur FC or Coventry City FC would likely cause shifts in the odds. Tactical changes announced by either manager, particularly those impacting attacking formations, could also move the market. Additionally, significant momentum shifts during the first half of the match, or even pre-match analysis highlighting a specific team’s strengths, could lead to increased trading activity and price adjustments in this market. Unexpected weather conditions on Oct 19, 2026 could also play a role.
