Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from those offered by traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action on both sides, while this market allows traders to freely express their beliefs, potentially leading to more accurate probabilities. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially before significant events or when new information emerges. Comparing the implied probabilities from both sources can reveal insights into public sentiment and potential value opportunities, though sportsbooks may offer different types of wagers.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of each exact score. As more shares are traded for a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting a higher perceived chance of occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome. Higher volume generally indicates greater confidence and liquidity in the market, making it easier to enter and exit positions. Currently, the total volume for this market is $0.
