Prediction market odds often differ from those found at traditional sportsbooks, reflecting the wisdom of the crowd. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market allows anyone to express their belief about the outcome. If sportsbooks heavily favor one exact score, you might find a different probability distribution here. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially when public opinion diverges from expert analysis. Examining these differences can provide a valuable perspective on the potential for mispricing.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where users buy and sell shares representing different exact scores. The price of each share reflects the market's collective belief about the probability of that score occurring. As more shares are traded, the price adjusts to reflect new information and sentiment. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price is determined solely by supply and demand among traders on Polymarket, and is not influenced by external factors or predetermined algorithms beyond the platform’s core functionality.
