This set of markets focuses on predicting the total points scored by both teams combined during the third quarter of a college football game. Each market has a different threshold for the total points needed to achieve a 'Yes' outcome.
These markets resolve based on the total points scored by both teams in the third quarter of the Texas vs Oklahoma college football game scheduled for October 10, 2026. Each market has a specific threshold (ranging from over 2.5 points to over 27.5 points); if the combined third-quarter points exceed the threshold, the market resolves to 'Yes.' If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the markets remain open and resolve based on the official result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, the markets resolve to a fair price. Only points scored during the third quarter count, and Kalshi is not affiliated with the NCAA.
Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, ensuring a profit margin, while Kalshi allows traders to directly assess the probability of an event occurring. This can lead to discrepancies, as the 'wisdom of the crowd' on Kalshi may assign different probabilities than those set by sportsbook analysts. It's common to see prediction markets offering more favorable odds, especially when public sentiment strongly disagrees with the sportsbook's initial assessment of the likelihood of a particular outcome.
On Kalshi, this market is priced using a continuous double auction. Traders buy and sell contracts representing their belief about whether the total points scored in the 3rd quarter of the Texas vs Oklahoma game will be over or under 7.5. The price of these contracts fluctuates based on supply and demand, with higher prices indicating a greater perceived probability of the 'Over' occurring. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current price reflects the collective expectations of all traders participating in this market, and provides a real-time assessment of the potential scoring output in that specific quarter.
This market resolves around Oct 10, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the official game statistics are verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the total points scored in the 3rd quarter of the Texas vs Oklahoma game, as recorded by the official game statistics. The market will settle to 100 if the total points scored are over 7.5, and to 0 if the total points scored are under 7.5. Traders holding contracts corresponding to the correct outcome will receive a payout.
Several factors could influence the price of this market before resolution. Any news regarding key player injuries for either Texas or Oklahoma would likely cause significant movement, as this directly impacts scoring potential. Changes in weather conditions, particularly if they are expected to affect passing or kicking games, could also shift expectations. Furthermore, the performance of both teams in the first and second quarters of the game will provide valuable information and likely lead to adjustments in the market price as traders react to the unfolding events.
