Divergence Detected

Issue: Polymarket offers granular markets (spreads, totals) while Kalshi only provides a binary winner market. Resolution conditions for postponements/cancellations are consistent but the core question differs.Hero tip: Focus on individual market types and understand the specific resolution logic for each platform. Spread and over/under markets on Polymarket require careful consideration of point differentials and total scores.

Critical divergence points:

  • Polymarket: Offers a variety of markets including winner, point spreads, and over/under totals. Resolution depends on specific outcomes (winning by a certain margin, total points scored) and includes rules for postponements/cancellations resolving to 50-50.
  • Kalshi: Only offers a binary market resolving to 'Yes' if either Tennessee State or Western Illinois wins the game. No consideration for margin of victory or total points.
Our PredictionHero Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA) are there to help users identify potential differences across platforms. Users are solely responsible for reviewing and understanding the applicable rules and resolution criteria before placing any trade or bet. If you notice a potential inconsistency, discrepancy, or error in an alert, please report it to our team so we can review and improve the accuracy of our data.

Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds, like those found on Polymarket and Kalshi, often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and ensure profit, while this market relies on individuals predicting the outcome. This can lead to discrepancies, especially when public sentiment strongly diverges from expert opinion. The efficiency of this market means prices can adjust rapidly to new information, sometimes anticipating shifts that sportsbooks are slower to incorporate. It’s a valuable comparison point for informed bettors.

Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Differences in user base, trading fees, and market structure can all contribute to price discrepancies between Polymarket and Kalshi. For example, Polymarket may attract a more sophisticated or information-rich set of traders, leading to different price discovery. Trading volume also plays a role; higher volume generally leads to tighter spreads and more accurate pricing. Additionally, each platform has its own liquidity pools and order book dynamics, influencing how quickly prices react to new information regarding the Tennessee State vs. Western Illinois game.
