Often, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and risk management, while this market is driven by the collective predictions of individual traders. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply the dynamic nature of the prediction market, where odds adjust rapidly to new information. It’s common to see this market offer insights that diverge from initial sportsbook lines, potentially identifying mispriced outcomes.
On Predict, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell contracts representing different outcomes. The price of each contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as determined by supply and demand. As more traders believe an outcome is likely, its price increases, and vice versa. On Predict, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing allows the market to quickly incorporate new information and adjust its predictions accordingly, offering a forward-looking assessment of the game's potential results.
