Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, which can sometimes differ from those set by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks establish lines based on statistical models and the intention to balance betting action and ensure profitability, while this market relies on individuals directly expressing their beliefs about the outcome. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially when public sentiment strongly deviates from the sportsbook’s initial assessment, or when new information emerges that isn’t fully priced into traditional odds. Examining these differences can provide valuable insights into the perceived probabilities of various outcomes.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of each exact score. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the prices adjust to reflect the aggregated sentiment. Currently, the most likely outcome, according to Polymarket, is Tadley Calleva FC 0 - 1 Dartford FC, with a probability of 100%. The total volume traded in this market is unknown, which may impact price discovery.
