Often, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and ensure profit, while this market reflects the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to be accurate. You may find that the implied probabilities from this market diverge from sportsbook odds, particularly as new information emerges or public sentiment shifts. It's common to see prediction markets more accurately forecast outcomes, as they aggregate diverse opinions and are continuously updated based on real-time trading activity. This can be a valuable tool for informed decision-making.
On Predict, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell contracts representing different outcomes. The price of each contract reflects the market’s assessment of the probability of that outcome occurring. On Predict, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the prices adjust dynamically, providing a real-time estimate of expectations. The current price represents the cost to take one side of the bet, and reflects the collective intelligence of all participants. This means the market isn’t based on expert opinion, but on the aggregated predictions of a diverse group.
