Often, prediction market odds offer a different perspective compared to traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, representing their profit margin. This market, being driven by user predictions, can sometimes reflect a more accurate assessment of probabilities, especially as new information emerges. However, sportsbook odds benefit from the expertise of professional oddsmakers and may react quickly to breaking news. It’s valuable to compare both to gain a comprehensive understanding of the potential outcomes for this match.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of each outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and express their views, the prices adjust, creating a dynamic and real-time assessment of the match's potential results. The market is entirely driven by the collective intelligence of its participants, making it a unique indicator of expectations.
