Typically, prediction market odds offer a distinct perspective compared to traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, representing their profit margin, while Polymarket allows traders to directly assess the probability of an outcome. This can lead to differences, especially when public sentiment strongly deviates from sportsbook expectations. It’s common to see prediction markets act as an 'information aggregator,' reflecting the collective wisdom of a diverse group of participants. Examining both sources provides a more comprehensive view of potential outcomes for this match.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where users buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of a particular outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares in a specific outcome, the price increases, indicating growing confidence, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds are constantly updated based on the latest information and trader sentiment surrounding the Suzhou doubles match.
