Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. This market, like others on Polymarket, aggregates the wisdom of the crowd, potentially incorporating information and analysis not readily available to bookmakers. While sportsbooks set odds based on statistical models and expert opinions, this market allows anyone to express their view, leading to potentially more accurate probabilities, especially when there's disagreement or uncertainty about the outcome. It’s common to see discrepancies, as prediction markets can be more sensitive to late-breaking news or nuanced factors.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing different exact scores. The price of each share reflects the market’s collective belief about the probability of that score occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the prices adjust accordingly, creating a dynamic and real-time assessment of the event’s potential outcomes. The current top outcome and its implied probability can be observed directly on the Polymarket dashboard.
