In the upcoming match between Sunderland AFC and Chelsea FC, scheduled for November 8, 2026 at 9:00 AM ET: This market will resolve to "Sunderland AFC" if Sunderland AFC are the first to score in the second half (second half of regular play plus second-half stoppage time). This market will resolve to "Chelsea FC" if Chelsea FC are the first to score in the second half (second half of regular play plus second-half stoppage time). If neither team scores in the second half (second half of regular play plus second-half stoppage time), this market will resolve to "Neither". If the game is postponed, this market will remain open until the game has been completed. If the game is canceled entirely, with no make-up game, this market will resolve to "Neither". This market refers only to goals scored within the second half of regular play plus second-half stoppage time. First-half goals, extra time, and penalty shoot-outs are excluded. Recognizable abbreviations, alternate or erroneous spellings, sponsor names, regional identifiers, and minor formatting differences in a team's or player's name will not affect resolution, provided the intended team or player can be clearly and uniquely identified as a participant in the listed fixture or competition. If a listed name has no reasonable connection to any participant, or could reasonably refer to more than one participant such that the intended team or player cannot be determined, this market will resolve as it would if the listed fixture had been canceled entirely; a listed participant who cannot be identified does not count as inactive or absent. The primary resolution source for this market will be official match information from Premier League (https://www.premierleague.com/). If the governing body or event organizers have not published final statistics within 2 hours of the event's conclusion, data from Flashscore may be used; if Flashscore data is unavailable, data from Sofascore may be used; if neither is available, a consensus of credible reporting may be used. Revisions to officially declared final scores made after market resolution will not be accounted for in determining the outcome. If no acceptable data is available within 24 hours of the event's conclusion, this market will resolve 50-50, or to "Draw" where applicable.

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, but may also incorporate a margin for profit. This market, however, is driven by traders who are incentivized to accurately predict the outcome. As a result, prediction market prices can sometimes be more efficient, particularly as the event approaches and more information becomes available. Discrepancies can arise due to differing opinions, access to information, and risk appetite between prediction market participants and sportsbook customers.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome – in this case, either Chelsea FC or Sunderland AFC scoring first in the second half. The price of these shares reflects the collective probability assigned to each outcome by the traders. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more shares are traded, the price adjusts to reflect new information and changing sentiment. The market’s price is determined solely by supply and demand among traders on Polymarket.
This market resolves around Nov 8, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the outcome will be determined by which team scores the first goal in the second half of the Sunderland AFC versus Chelsea FC match. The result will be based on official match data and verified against credible public sources. Traders will then be able to claim their winnings based on the final result. The platform will handle the payout process automatically once the outcome is confirmed.
Several factors could influence the price of this market before resolution. Any news regarding team injuries, suspensions, or changes in starting lineups for either Chelsea FC or Sunderland AFC would likely have an impact. Unexpected weather conditions on match day could also shift the odds. Furthermore, in-game events during the first half, such as red cards or early goals, could significantly alter trader sentiment and cause the market to move. Overall team form and recent performance are also key signals that traders will consider when adjusting their positions in this market.
