It's common to see differences between prediction market odds and those offered by traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often set lines to balance betting action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market reflects the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to accurately forecast the outcome. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply variations in how each assesses the probability of a particular result. Comparing these odds can reveal where the crowd believes there's value or mispricing.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current price reflects the aggregate assessment of all participants, making it a dynamic and responsive indicator of expectations for the Sukovatyi vs. Romanenko match.
