This set of markets tracks the total points scored by both teams in an upcoming college football game. Participants can speculate on whether the combined score will exceed various thresholds, offering different levels of risk and potential return based on expected scoring outcomes.
All markets resolve based on the official total points scored by both Stony Brook and Towson in their college football game scheduled for October 10, 2026. Each market has a specific threshold (ranging from 37.5 to 77.5 points); if the combined score exceeds the threshold, the market resolves to Yes. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the markets remain open and resolve based on the final result. If the game does not start within 48 hours of the scheduled time, all markets resolve to a fair price, ensuring equitable treatment for all participants regardless of the threshold selected.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from those offered by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set their lines to balance action and ensure profit, incorporating a margin known as the 'vig'. This market, however, is driven by individuals trading based on their own analysis and information. Often, prediction markets are more accurate than traditional polls or analysts in forecasting event outcomes, as they incentivize participants to be well-informed and express their true beliefs. You may find differences in the implied probabilities between this market and sportsbook offerings.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different total points for the Stony Brook vs Towson game. The price of each contract reflects the probability of that specific total occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders are constantly adjusting their bids and asks based on new information, leading to dynamic price movements. The market depth and volume indicate the level of confidence and activity surrounding each possible outcome, offering insight into the collective prediction.
This market resolves around Oct 10, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the final score of the Stony Brook vs Towson game is verifiable from credible public reporting. The total points scored by both teams will be used to determine which contracts pay out. Contracts corresponding to the correct total points will settle at 100, while those representing incorrect totals will settle to 0. The resolution will be based on official game statistics and will be publicly available following the completion of the event.
Several factors could influence the price of this market before the game takes place. News regarding key player injuries for either Stony Brook or Towson would likely cause significant movement. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they suggest conditions favoring a high- or low-scoring game, could also impact trading activity. Late-breaking news about team strategies or coaching decisions might also shift expectations. Even public sentiment and betting trends observed elsewhere could contribute to price fluctuations in this market.
