Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from sportsbook odds which are set by professional oddsmakers. Sportsbooks may incorporate factors like public betting percentages and risk management into their lines, while this market relies on individuals expressing their beliefs about the outcome. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information or interpretations. It's common to see prediction markets move independently of sportsbook lines, especially as new information becomes available or as the event draws closer. Examining both can provide a more comprehensive view.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing their belief about whether Stonehill will win the first half against LIU. The price of a contract ranges from 0 to 100, representing the probability of that outcome. As more people buy contracts predicting a Stonehill first-half win, the price increases, and vice versa. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing mechanism allows the market to aggregate information and reflect the collective forecast of participants on Kalshi.
This market resolves around Oct 24, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The determination will be based on which team is leading at the end of the first half of the Stonehill vs LIU basketball game. Official game results from a trusted sports data source will be used to verify the winner. The market will then settle, and contract holders will receive payouts based on the final outcome.
Several factors could influence the price of this market before resolution. Any news regarding player injuries or suspensions for either Stonehill or LIU could significantly shift expectations. Changes in team performance leading up to the game, such as recent wins or losses, could also impact trading activity. Unexpected announcements about starting lineups or coaching strategies might also cause the market to react. Even general sentiment and public perception surrounding the teams could play a role in how this market moves.
