Prediction market odds, like those found for this market on Polymarket and Predict, often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set odds based on their own models and profit margins, while prediction markets are driven by actual money at stake. This can lead to discrepancies, as prediction markets may more quickly incorporate new information or undervalued factors. However, both aim to accurately forecast the probability of an event, and comparing them can provide a more comprehensive view of potential outcomes.
Polymarket and Predict can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract.
