PredictionHero - Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA)

Unified Resolution Criteria (Consistent across platforms)

Both Polymarket and Predict define the same resolution criteria, timeframe, and fallback data sources.Primary resolution logic: Official statistics of the event as recognized by the governing body or event organizers.

Core resolution logic:

  • The first team to score within the first 90 minutes of regular play plus stoppage time determines the winner.
  • If neither team scores within the specified timeframe, the market resolves to 'Neither'.
  • The game must be completed for resolution; postponement delays resolution.
  • Cancellation of the game results in a 'Neither' resolution.

Edge cases & clarifications:

  • Data Availability: If official statistics are unavailable within 2 hours of the event's conclusion, Flashscore data will be used. If Flashscore is unavailable, Sofascore will be used. If neither is available, a consensus of credible reporting will be used. If no acceptable data is available within 24 hours, the market will resolve 50-50 (or 'Draw' where applicable).
  • Score Revisions: Revisions to officially declared final scores made after market resolution will not be accounted for in determining the outcome.
Timing: Resolution will occur after the completion of the first 90 minutes of regular play plus stoppage time, or as soon as official data is available (within 24 hours of the event's conclusion). Our PredictionHero Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA) are there to help users identify potential differences across platforms. They do not replace or supersede the official rules and description of any prediction market. Users are solely responsible for reviewing and understanding the applicable rules and resolution criteria before placing any trade or bet. If you notice a potential inconsistency, discrepancy, or error in an alert, please report it to our team so we can review and improve the accuracy of our data.

Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set odds based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market relies on individuals wagering their own capital, incentivizing informed predictions. This can lead to discrepancies, particularly when public sentiment diverges from expert opinion. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on team rankings and historical data, this market can quickly adjust to new information or changing perceptions about team form and potential strategies.

Prices on Polymarket and Predict for the Benfica vs. Celtic first-to-score market can diverge due to several factors. Polymarket and Predict can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts a different user base with varying risk appetites and information sets, leading to differing opinions on the likelihood of each outcome. Trading volume also plays a role; higher volume on one platform can lead to more efficient price discovery. Furthermore, the specific mechanisms for trading and market making on Polymarket and Predict can contribute to temporary price discrepancies, even though both ultimately reflect expectations for the same underlying event.

Several factors could influence the price of this market before resolution. Any news regarding key player injuries or suspensions for either Sport Lisboa e Benfica or Celtic FC would likely cause significant movement. Changes in team form, such as unexpected wins or losses in preceding matches, could also shift trader sentiment. Pre-match tactical announcements, like confirmed starting lineups or changes in formation, might also impact the probabilities. Finally, even general news about weather conditions or fan behavior could introduce volatility into this market.
