If there’s a significant difference between the implied probability on Polymarket and sportsbook odds, it might signal an opportunity for informed traders. Examining these differences can be a valuable part of your research process when considering the game’s potential outcome.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring. As more people buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market efficiently incorporates new information as it becomes available, leading to dynamic price adjustments. This creates a real-time assessment of the game’s potential results, driven entirely by trader sentiment and activity.
