This set of markets tracks the total points scored by both teams in an upcoming college football game. Each market has a different threshold, allowing participants to speculate on whether the combined score will exceed various point totals.
All markets resolve based on the total points scored by both South Carolina and Oklahoma in their college football game scheduled for October 31, 2026. For each market, if the combined score exceeds the specified threshold, the market resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the result is based on the final score of the game as played. If the game does not start within 48 hours of the scheduled time, all markets resolve to a fair price, ensuring equitable treatment for all participants regardless of the specific point threshold.
Generally, prediction market odds tend to reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often proving more accurate than initial sportsbook lines. Sportsbooks set their odds to attract balanced betting and ensure profit, while this market aggregates diverse opinions. However, sportsbook odds can initially move more quickly based on breaking news or significant bets. Over time, this market often converges towards a more refined probability assessment as more traders participate and incorporate information. It's common to see discrepancies, especially early on, but prediction markets frequently outperform traditional sportsbooks in forecasting event outcomes.
On Kalshi, this market is priced using a continuous double auction. Traders buy and sell contracts representing different total point outcomes for the South Carolina vs Oklahoma game. The price of each contract reflects the market's assessment of the probability of that outcome occurring. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy contracts for a specific outcome, its price increases, indicating a higher perceived probability. Conversely, selling contracts drives the price down. This dynamic pricing mechanism allows the market to efficiently incorporate new information and adjust its predictions in real-time, based on supply and demand.
This market resolves around Nov 1, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the final total points scored in the South Carolina vs Oklahoma game is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official game statistics, as reported by a trusted sports data source. Traders holding contracts corresponding to the actual total points scored will receive a payout of 100 cents per contract, while those holding contracts for other outcomes will receive nothing. The market will close prior to the game's completion to prevent manipulation.
Several factors could significantly influence this market. Any news regarding key player injuries for either South Carolina or Oklahoma would likely cause a shift in the points total. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if severe weather is expected, could also impact the market. Late-breaking news about coaching strategies or team dynamics might also play a role. Finally, large volume trades on Kalshi itself can create short-term price movements, as traders react to perceived advantages or disadvantages. Monitoring these signals will be crucial for anyone looking to trade in this market.
