Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from those offered by traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set their lines based on models and internal analysis, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individual traders. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or risk assessments. If there's a significant difference, it may present an opportunity for arbitrage, where traders can profit by simultaneously betting on both the prediction market and a sportsbook. It's important to compare odds from various sources before making any decisions.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price adjusts accordingly, providing a dynamic assessment of the event's likelihood. The current price indicates what the collective market believes is the fair probability of a particular team winning the Overwatch League match.
This market resolves around Oct 11, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official result of the Sonic Boom versus Seoul Thunders Overwatch League match. The winning team, as declared by the league organizers, will determine the settlement of this market. It’s important to note that the outcome will be determined by the official results and not by any subjective interpretation or external source.
Several signals or events could significantly move this market before resolution. Any news regarding player injuries, team roster changes, or strategic shifts could impact the perceived probabilities. Major announcements from the Overwatch League regarding match scheduling or rule modifications could also influence trading activity. Furthermore, performance in recent matches, analyst predictions, and even social media sentiment can all contribute to shifts in the market's price. Unexpected developments leading up to Oct 11, 2026 are likely to cause fluctuations in the odds.
