This event tracks the total points scored by both teams during the third quarter of a college football game. Participants predict whether the combined score will exceed specific thresholds, offering various levels of difficulty for forecasting game dynamics.
All markets resolve based on the total points scored by both teams combined during the third quarter of the SMU vs Syracuse college football game scheduled for October 31, 2026. Each market has a different threshold for resolution, ranging from 2.5 to 27.5 points. If the combined score exceeds the specified threshold for a given market, it resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. For all markets, only points scored during the third quarter count. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the markets remain open and resolve based on the official result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, all markets resolve to a fair price. Kalshi explicitly states it is not affiliated with the NCAA, and all trademarks remain property of their respective owners.
Generally, prediction market odds often reflect a different perspective than those found at sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market relies on the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to accurately forecast the outcome. Often, prediction markets can be more accurate, especially when there's significant public interest and information available. However, sportsbook odds can still provide a useful benchmark for comparison, and discrepancies can highlight areas where the crowd may disagree with professional oddsmakers regarding the SMU vs Syracuse 3rd quarter total.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous auction format, meaning buyers and sellers submit bids and offers, and the market price adjusts based on supply and demand. Traders are essentially betting on the probability of the 3rd quarter total points scored falling above or below a certain threshold. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current price reflects the market’s consensus view of that probability, and the price will fluctuate as new information emerges or as traders change their beliefs about the likely outcome of the game. The more traders believe a certain outcome will occur, the higher the price for that outcome will climb.
This market resolves around Oct 31, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the final score of the 3rd quarter of the SMU vs Syracuse game will be used to determine whether the total points scored fall above or below the relevant threshold. The resolution will be based on official game statistics and will be verified against credible public sources. Traders will then be paid out based on their positions in this market, reflecting the accuracy of their predictions.
Several factors could influence trading in this market before resolution. Any news regarding key player injuries for either SMU or Syracuse would likely have a significant impact. Changes in weather conditions, particularly if they are expected to affect scoring, could also move the market. Additionally, in-game performance during the first and second quarters could shift trader sentiment, as could any late-breaking news or analysis regarding team strategies or matchups. Overall game momentum and scoring trends observed during the game itself will be key signals influencing this market.
