This can lead to discrepancies, as prediction markets aggregate diverse opinions and can sometimes identify mispricings that sportsbooks miss. It's common to see differences emerge due to varying information sources and analytical approaches between the two.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome of the Sirbu vs. Cherdivar fight. The price of these shares directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as determined by supply and demand. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, indicating a higher perceived probability. Conversely, increased selling pressure drives the price down. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the collective wisdom of the crowd.
