Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd perspective, often differing from initial sportsbook offerings. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and ensure profit, while this market allows traders to express their independent beliefs about the outcome. Therefore, you might find that the implied probabilities in this market diverge from those offered by traditional sportsbooks, especially as new information emerges. It's common to see prediction markets more accurately reflect true probabilities as the event approaches, potentially identifying value where sportsbooks may have mispriced the outcome.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of a particular outcome. As more shares are purchased for a specific outcome, its price increases, reflecting growing confidence. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the collective intelligence of all participants, continuously updating as new information becomes available and traders adjust their positions.

This market resolves around Oct 10, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The result of the second half of the Shrewsbury Town vs. Exeter City match will be used to determine the winning outcome. It’s important to note that the resolution process relies on publicly available data to ensure a transparent and verifiable outcome. Traders should monitor official sources for the final result, as this will be the basis for settlement on Polymarket.

Several factors could influence trading activity in this market. Any news regarding team injuries, changes in player lineups, or tactical adjustments announced before the match could significantly shift trader sentiment. Unexpected weather conditions on match day, or even pre-game analysis from reputable sports commentators, could also cause price fluctuations. Furthermore, in-game events during the first half, such as early goals or red cards, would likely lead to substantial movement in this market as traders react to the evolving situation.
