Typically, prediction market odds reflect a different set of information and incentives than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while prediction markets aim to represent the true probability of an event occurring as assessed by traders. It's common to find that this market’s odds diverge from sportsbook odds, particularly as new information emerges or public sentiment shifts. Comparing the two can offer a broader perspective on the potential outcome of the SHL hockey match.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where users buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price adjusts accordingly, creating a dynamic and real-time assessment of the event's likelihood. The current price indicates what traders collectively believe about the result of the SHL hockey match.
