Typically, prediction market odds reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd approach, often differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market allows traders to express their own probabilities. If a significant discrepancy exists between the two, arbitrage opportunities may arise, attracting traders to capitalize on the difference. It’s common to see prediction markets more accurately forecast outcomes, especially when there's a lot of information available and engaged participants.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market efficiently incorporates new information as traders adjust their positions based on news, player form, and other relevant factors. This dynamic pricing allows for a constantly updated assessment of the likelihood of each player winning the match.

Several factors could significantly impact this market. Any news regarding player injuries, changes in playing conditions, or updates on their recent performance would likely cause price fluctuations. Unexpected upsets in earlier rounds of the tournament could also shift expectations. Furthermore, analysis from tennis experts and public sentiment expressed on social media can influence trader behavior and, consequently, the market price. A strong showing by either player in their preceding matches would also be a key signal to watch.
