Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while this market allows traders to directly assess probabilities. If a large number of traders believe a sportsbook is undervaluing a particular outcome, they can express that belief by trading on Polymarket. This can lead to differences in implied probabilities between this market and those offered by conventional sports betting operators. It's important to compare and contrast to form your own informed opinion.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price will fluctuate, providing a dynamic assessment of the match's potential result. The current volume traded suggests significant interest in this qualifying match.
