Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while Polymarket allows traders to directly assess the probability of an outcome. This can lead to differences in implied probabilities. It's common to see prediction markets reflect the 'wisdom of the crowd' more accurately, especially as more information becomes available and trading volume increases. Comparing these odds can be a useful exercise for informed decision-making.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing different outcomes of the Van Assche vs Bu match, and the price of these shares reflects the market's collective belief about the likelihood of each outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price movements are driven by supply and demand; if more traders believe Van Assche will win, the price of shares representing that outcome will increase. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the latest information and insights.
