Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while prediction markets aim to reflect the true probability as assessed by traders. If there's a significant difference between the two, it could indicate that the market believes the sportsbook's odds are mispriced. However, it’s important to remember that both represent probabilities based on different information and biases. Analyzing both can provide a more well-rounded view of the potential outcome of this match.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of a particular outcome. As more shares are purchased for a specific outcome, its price increases, reflecting a higher implied probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of shares is determined by supply and demand, meaning that if many traders believe Learner Tien will win, the price of shares representing that outcome will rise. This creates a dynamic and real-time assessment of the match's potential result.
