Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from initial sportsbook offerings. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market allows anyone to trade based on their own information and analysis. It’s common to see prediction market probabilities shift as new information emerges, potentially leading to odds that diverge from, or converge with, those found at traditional sportsbooks. Comparing the two can offer a broader perspective on the likely outcome of the match.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders believe an outcome is likely, the higher the share price will climb, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the collective intelligence of all participants trading on Polymarket.
