Frequently asked questions

Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market relies on the collective wisdom of traders. Therefore, discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or risk assessments. If sportsbook odds heavily favor one outcome, this market might show a more nuanced view, especially if there's uncertainty surrounding key players or tactical changes. It’s valuable to compare both to gain a comprehensive understanding of potential outcomes.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in different outcomes. The price of each share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular result, its price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the most up-to-date collective intelligence of participants, providing a real-time assessment of the potential for each result in the Heerenveen vs. Excelsior second half.
