Often, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, aiming to profit regardless of the outcome, while this market allows traders to directly express their beliefs about the probability of each player winning. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information sources, varying levels of expertise among participants, and the potential for market manipulation, though Polymarket actively monitors for such activity. Comparing the odds can reveal where the 'wisdom of the crowd' diverges from professional oddsmakers' assessments.
