Often, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and ensure profit, while this market reflects the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to be accurate. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply the dynamics of how each venue operates. It’s common to see this market move independently of sportsbook lines, especially as new information becomes available or public sentiment shifts regarding the San Jose State vs. Hawai'i game.
On Predict, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different outcomes. The price of each contract fluctuates based on supply and demand, ultimately reflecting the probability of that outcome occurring. On Predict, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This means that the price is determined entirely by the actions of users on Predict, and isn’t influenced by external factors or a predetermined algorithm. The more traders who believe an outcome is likely, the higher the price of its corresponding contract will climb.
