It reflects the competitive performance of both teams in the initial segment of the match, offering insight into early-game momentum. The market resolves based on which team leads at the end of the first half of the designated basketball game. Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, incorporating a profit margin. This market, however, is driven by individuals trading contracts based on their own research and beliefs. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook line is inaccurate, they can drive the price on Kalshi to reflect their collective assessment, potentially offering different value than available at sportsbooks.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing their belief about the probability of each team winning the first half. The price of a contract ranges from 0 to 100, representing the implied probability of that outcome. As more traders buy contracts for a particular team, the price increases, reflecting growing confidence in their victory. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market dynamically adjusts based on supply and demand, providing a real-time assessment of expectations.
This market resolves around Oct 11, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on which team is officially declared the winner of the first half of the San Antonio vs Phoenix game by the official league statistics. The official first-half result will serve as the basis for determining which contracts pay out at 100 and which expire at 0, based on the winning team.
Several factors could influence trading activity in this market. Late-breaking news regarding player injuries or changes to starting lineups for either the San Antonio or Phoenix teams would likely cause significant movement. Unexpected announcements about coaching strategies or team performance could also shift trader sentiment. Furthermore, any major shifts in public perception, perhaps driven by pre-game analysis or expert opinions, may impact the price of contracts on Kalshi as traders adjust their positions.
