Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and need to account for profit margins, while this market represents a more direct aggregation of user beliefs. If a significant discrepancy exists between the two, opportunities for arbitrage may arise, as traders attempt to capitalize on the difference. However, it's important to remember that both represent probabilities of an outcome, and neither is guaranteed to be accurate; they simply approach the prediction from different angles.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome of the Waltert vs Klimovicova match. The price of these shares fluctuates based on supply and demand, effectively creating a real-time probability assessment. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders believe a particular outcome will occur, the higher the price of shares representing that outcome will climb. This dynamic pricing allows the market to quickly incorporate new information and adjust its predictions accordingly.
