Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own analysis and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market aggregates the views of many individual traders. If a significant number of informed bettors believe a sportsbook has mispriced an outcome, the prediction market may show a different probability. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially before an event, as the market incorporates diverse perspectives and reacts to new information.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and share their insights, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment of the event's likelihood. The current price represents the market’s best estimate of the probability of Pridankina/Tikhonova vs Raina/Turkmen winning the Samsun doubles match.
