Often, prediction market odds reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd perspective that can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market is driven purely by traders expressing their beliefs. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information sources, biases, or simply the dynamics of how each type of market operates. It's common to see prediction markets reacting more quickly to new information than sportsbooks, potentially offering a more up-to-date assessment of the likely result.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of each outcome. As more traders participate and express their views, the price adjusts accordingly, creating a dynamic and real-time assessment of the match’s potential result. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price is solely determined by supply and demand within Polymarket.
