Generally, prediction market odds often reflect a 'wisdom of the crowd' perspective, potentially differing from those set by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks establish lines to balance action on both sides and incorporate a profit margin, while this market is driven purely by traders’ beliefs about the likelihood of each outcome. If sportsbook odds significantly diverge from those seen here, it might indicate a disagreement between professional oddsmakers and the crowd, or that new information hasn't fully been incorporated into one or the other. It’s important to note that these are distinct sources of information and can offer different insights.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting growing confidence. Conversely, selling pressure drives the price down. The current price reflects the collective assessment of all traders participating in the market, creating a dynamic and real-time probability estimate for the Sabuka vs. Krejcik match.
