These markets track the total points scored by both teams in the second half of a college football game, including any overtime periods. Each market has a different threshold for the total points needed to resolve as 'Yes'.
All markets resolve based on the total points scored by both teams in the second half (including overtime) of the Rutgers vs Maryland college football game scheduled for October 17, 2026. Each market has a specific threshold: if the combined second-half points exceed the threshold, the market resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. For all markets, only points scored in the second half count. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the markets remain open and resolve based on the final result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, the markets resolve to a fair price. Kalshi is not affiliated with the NCAA, and all trademarks remain property of their respective owners.
Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at sportsbooks. Sportsbooks incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, aiming to profit regardless of the outcome, while Kalshi allows traders to directly express their beliefs about the probability of events. This can lead to differences in implied probabilities. If a significant number of people believe a certain outcome is more likely than sportsbooks suggest, the price on this market will reflect that collective insight. It’s common to see discrepancies, particularly when public opinion diverges from expert analysis.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book, where traders buy and sell contracts representing their predictions. The price of a contract indicates the market's implied probability of the event occurring. As more traders buy contracts for a particular outcome, the price increases, and vice versa. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market dynamically adjusts based on supply and demand, reflecting the collective wisdom of the crowd. Traders are incentivized to provide accurate predictions, as profitable trades result in financial gains.
This market resolves around Oct 17, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final score of the second half of the Rutgers vs Maryland game will be used to determine whether the total points scored were above or below the relevant threshold. The resolution will be based on official game statistics, ensuring a transparent and objective determination of the result. Traders will then be paid out based on whether their contracts align with the actual outcome.
Several factors could influence the price of this market. Late-breaking news regarding player injuries to key offensive players on either team would likely cause significant movement. Changes in weather conditions, particularly if they are expected to impact scoring, could also shift the market. Furthermore, any significant shifts in public perception, perhaps driven by expert analysis or social media trends, could affect trading activity and, consequently, the price. Unexpected line movements in sportsbooks could also prompt traders to reassess their positions in this market.
